A very simple lesson containing 5 mini-activities to do in pairs based around 2 TV guides to exploit this type of authentic text. It’s highly based on the textbook but extending it. It also includes a British TV guide example to work on speaking. As this is done towards the end of the module, I’ve included 2 noughts and crosses sheets for students to do in pairs and thus review vocabulary from module 2.3 Prefiero las comedias. PPT contains a total of 8 slides (1 of them being the answer sheet to the noughts and crosses game).

Ppt presentation I created to teach the present continuous for KS4 students, however it can be easily adapted to any ability group due to the nature of the activities. it provides an explanation of what it is (uses), time indicators, formation (endings) and main irregular forms. It then includes 5 different activities: 2 controlled practice activities (translation); 2 guided practice activities (building sentences from an image and sentence completion (differentiated) and 1 freer practice activity (students to think creatively and build sentences using the present continuous based on stimuli dice; it allows them to produce different outcomes, as it’s an open-ended activity). Answers, where applicable, are included.

A worksheet with a compilation of high frequency phrases in Spanish containing very common mistakes made by English speakers. These errors include: grammar, spelling, word order, gender and number agreements and omitted words. I devised this sheet to raise awareness among my students, with the objective that they won’t make these mistakes in their GCSE exam!! Answers included, at the end of the document. It should keep them busy for some time!

A powerpoint I created to help my year 8 and year 9 groups practise verb tenses before the summer exams. Year 8 (second year): present, preterite and near future year 9 (third year): present, preterite, near and simple future. this resource does not include verb endings, but tables for students to fill in and practise verb conjugations in their 6 forms (there are some common irregulars). Answers included for them to work independently and check their own answers. Ppt includes a thinking quilts activity where students will be identifying these tenses in use, as well as typical time markers to go with each tense.

A very straightforward ppt which covers the relevant language to teach Module 3.4 Durante el recreo from the Viva 1 textbook. Ppt introduces a range of phrases to talk about what you do at break, a reading activity, listening from the book, speaking and finally a closing writing paragraph. You can buy the longer version of this on my shop: Viva 1 - Module 3.4 Durante el recreo + Que haces en clase?, which is a fusion of this sub-unit plus Module 2.2 from the Mira 1 textbook: Que haces en clase?, which I created to stretch the most able, as not only it equips them with things to say they do at break, but also in different lessons. Edexcel International GCSE (9-1) Spanish - Tackling Tasks B & C - Sample sentences and practice

A resource created for pupils taking the Edexcel Spanish IGCSE 9-1 exam to show them how to prepare for tasks B and C from the oral exam. This bundle includes 2 different ppt presentations where students are shown sample A* (grade 8,9) sentences so they have a reference on how prepare these by themselves, and to know how to make them reach grade 8/9. One of the presentations was specifically designed for a bottom set (using basic tenses they should know by the end of yr 11), whereas the other was designed for a very able top set (includes examples of present subjunctive, imperfect, etc). The latter can be turned into a task: instead of providing students with the sample answers already, you can set them the task to translate these from English into Spanish (answers provided). This means your A* sample answer will be provided in English for students to practise translation skills. It’s up to you how you want to exploit this resource.

The preterite tense is very quickly recapped here and there is an activity to put the 3 tenses in practice. A few vocab items are introduced with the game que falta, but using the textbook would be ideal to introduce them all. Listening activities are ready with answers; also manipulated to make them most of them and include variety. This resource includes a 35 slide ppt presentation I prepared to teach the new Edexcel International GCSE 9-1 for my Year 10 group. As the textbook isn’t great, I created many extra resources to combine with working on the textbook. That includes introduction of new tenses, among others. What’s included: resources for Unit 2: Self, family and friends - at home and abroad, which at the same time includes activities for section: 2C Hobbies and interests --> subsections 2C.1 and 2C.2 only, as I skipped 2C.3 I have different bundles available on my profile for each textbook topic.

Estereotipos espanoles y latinos - A-level

These are 3 different activities I created to get my A-level students to speak about stereotypes in the Hispanic world. Activity 1 consists of 12 cards (you need to cut them out yourself) with a different Spanish stereotype each. Students will take one each at a time, having to explain the stereotype in more detail if they have heard from it before, and then say whether they agree with it or not, and why. Activity 2 consists of a PDF document that looks like a comic, created with countryballs (to make it more fun and attractive). It includes more stereotypes of different Spanish-speaking countries. Each slide is created to trigger a discussion regarding the preconceptions of each country mentioned. Activity 3 is a powerpoint presentation with a very wide range of different South American stereotypes, raised by North American people. Each slide displays a different stereotype, for students to look at and discuss in pairs.
